Capify has started 2019 in a very exciting way, by launching a new website. We’ve been working on it for the past few months and we’re really happy with how it’s turned out. We hope that you like it as much as we do!
We wanted it to be more informative, easier to navigate and look a lot better when viewed on a mobile phone. All very important things, and something that we’re sure our visitors will appreciate.
Designing a website can be a long and sometimes stressful process but it’s definitely worth putting in the hard work. According to a website tracking software, there are currently 1.9 billion websites on the internet. A percentage of these are dormant, but that’s still a huge amount!
With so much competition it’s important that when creating a new website, the focus is to make it educational, memorable and easy to use.
Lots of business owners use funds from Capify so that they can invest in marketing and advertising; and in particular, so that they can do a website relaunch.
Since we’ve just done it ourselves, we want to pass on some knowledge based on what we’ve learnt from going through the process.
Mobile is SO important
In today’s increasingly digital age, people are using their mobile phones to browse the internet more and more. That’s why it’s really important that your website is mobile (and tablet) friendly.
According to a recent study, consumers spend more than five hours a day on their smartphones, wow.
You need to be there, with a great website, for when they spend that time searching for you. Don’t lose out to a competitor that’s invested more time and money perfecting their mobile experience.
In 2018, it was thought that 52.2% of all worldwide online browsing was done from a mobile – we’ll leave that stat with you.
It takes time but it’s worth it, don’t rush the process
Creating a new website can take time, and typically involves a lot of different skills and expertise. Usually business owners work with specialist agencies; from designers to developers. They will help you to construct the right look and feel, and make everything function properly!
To get it right, there can be a lot of going back and forth. If you’re not completely happy though, it’s important that you’re honest about it. The majority of people will go onto your website before they make a purchase; whether that’s to see your products, find a number, locate your premises or read reviews. That’s why you need to be 100% confident that your new website is up to scratch. It’s vital that you make a great first impression.
Whilst it can be good to work towards a deadline, don’t let this effect the finished product. Take your time.
Look, feel and functionality
Look, feel and functionality are all equally important, so if you’re planning a new website relaunch; you need to consider all of these things.
There’s no point in having a pretty website if people press on a button which doesn’t work. Equally though, if you focus on having a very technical website that isn’t pleasant to look at; you won’t win customers then either.
It’s all about getting the balance just right.
Another key thing is to make sure that your new website remains on brand. Sometimes it can be easy to get carried away with different colours, styles and imagery that you’ve never tried before. However, this can be detrimental to the brand that you’ve worked hard to build.
People need to go online and recognise that they’re on the right website, even if it’s new and improved.
As a piece of key advice, it’s good to have some technical checks or an audit done on your new website before it replaces the old one. If not done properly, your website relaunch could negatively affect your rankings on Google and you don’t want that!
You need feedback, but not too much
One really important thing to remember, is that whilst it’s a really good thing to get some feedback on your new website before it goes live – you don’t need too much!
Everyone views things in different ways, and everyone has an opinion. Sometimes it can be the case that the more people you speak to, the more changes you’ll have to make, and the more conflicting advice you’ll receive.
Whilst you’re working on your website, choose a small team of trusted people to help you. Sit together and decide the elements which you all like the best, and the one’s which you’re not so keen on.
You’ll be able to bounce ideas off each other, and come to a conclusion together about the direction you want to go in.
Hearing other people’s opinions will help you appeal to a wider target audience, and it can help you to view things in a different way.
Make constant improvements, always
Whilst it’s a great thing to do a big website relaunch and it keeps things fresh and exciting for your customers; it’s important that you continue to make small and regular improvements to your website all year round.
In order to become more visible when someone searches for your company, Google requires that your website has consistent updates and a lot of TLC.
This will also benefit you because your site will always remain stylish, informative and fully functioning. If you don’t personally know much about search engine optimisation (SEO), or have the time to think about it whilst running a business (perfectly understandable), you can hire experts who will be able to keep your website active all year round.
If you want to complete a website relaunch and are looking for some additional funds, Capify can raise business owners from £3,500 – over £150,000.
