Despite being part of one of the most established alternative finance providers in the world, a London HQ never really made sense to the Capify brand.
The Capify office has been based in Altrincham’s Station House building since we began
operating in the UK in 2008. Over those ten years, we’ve seen Altrincham evolve and grow –
it’s become an increasingly popular commuter town and the transport links are only getting better.
Altrincham was always an obvious choice when we were choosing our UK office, and here’s
Altrincham is Thriving
In the first three months of 2017, visitors to Altrincham were up 8.2% compared to the same period in 2016, defying the national trend for a dip during this period. Every other town in the UK was down slightly, but Altrincham was doing uniquely well. The vacancy rate is also below 10% “for the first time in a decade” and empty units are down 14.4% compared to 2016. Altrincham is continually “outperform(ing) the UK” in terms of thriving retail businesses.
Capify provides finance for retailers, pubs, bars, salons and any other business that accepts
payments through a card terminal. To know our neighbouring businesses are succeeding is
The Northern Powerhouse is Next Door
Altrincham is closely connected to Manchester’s Northern Powerhouse by tram, train and
road. At Capify, we think the extra funding and promotion Manchester will receive is a long
time coming, and an appropriate response to its continued economic growth.
Called ‘the next industrial revolution’ by the Chancellor in November last year, this boost to
productivity and funding will primarily target SMEs. £500 million in investment will be sent
straight to “a range of technological initiatives ranging from artificial intelligent to 5G and
full fibre broadband”.
With a new Mayor in Manchester, and greater investment, this boost to the north makes
Altrincham and Manchester unique places to be and work.
Expanding our office
In recent years, we outgrew our home on the 2nd floor of Station House and moved into a
larger space on the 7th floor. This also symbolised the joining together of United Kapital and Capiota to create a more holistic brand, offering business finance and the Merchant Cash Advance from one central place.
When setting up a business, it’s important to choose somewhere that your staff and
customers can easily reach. This is something the businesses we work with take very
seriously, and so do we. Many of our staff are Greater Manchester and Cheshire locals, who
maintain a close connection to the community. When our customers call us, they often
appreciate the warm, northern charm too!
