Key Business Dates to Remember in 2020

There’s so many exciting events happening in 2020! As a business owner, it’s important to make a record of any significant dates and prepare for them in advance.

From serious things like the Budget, to fun celebrations and industry exhibitions – write them all in a calendar and check it regularly. Having everything planned out for the year should keep you well prepared and ensure nothing creeps up and takes you by surprise.

We’ve started things off by making a note of a few key dates, check them out:

2nd-6th February 2020 – Spring Fair International, Birmingham

The Spring Fair is one of the biggest dates in the retail calendar! This year’s expo will be held at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre and is scheduled to attract hundreds of exhibitors from all over the world. If you own a business which provides gift and home products, you don’t want to miss it.

11th-13th February 2020 – Southern Manufacturing & Electronics, Farnborough

A major event in the manufacturing industry calendar. There will be many exhibitors visiting the Southern Manufacturing & Electronics Show to show off their latest innovations.

11th March 2020 – The First Government Budget

The current Chancellor of the Exchequer will be announcing the Government’s budget on the 11th March this year. This could be a mixture of good news and some future challenges for business owners throughout Britain. It’s suggested that March’s budget will contain an increase on the National Insurance threshold, a charge for single use plastics, and an increased social care budget.

14th-15th March 2020 – The National Wedding Show

Hosted at the Manchester Central Convention Complex, the National Wedding Show attracts thousands of wedding vendors and suppliers as well as brides and grooms-to-be. Similar events are also hosted in Birmingham and London.

5th April 2020 – End of Tax Year

The 2019/20 tax year ends.

6th April 2020 – Beginning of New Tax Year

The 2020/21 tax year begins.

15th-16th May 2020 – The Dentistry Show, Birmingham

This is the UK’s top dentistry event. Dental technology companies are the main exhibitors, as well as thought leaders showcasing new industry developments, studies, and knowledge. 

11th-14th June 2020 – Ideal Home Show, Scotland

The annual home and garden design, gadgets and interiors show. Thousands of consumers will be attending the Ideal Home Show, making it a great place to showcase products and services.

28th November 2020 – Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is celebrated every year to try and boost business for independents all over the UK, supported by American Express. Small Business Saturday is in its seventh year and getting bigger and bigger. Local businesses can advertise the day online and in-store to encourage more customers to pay them a visit.
